MALE, March 20 (HNS)-Kentaro Harada, the World President of global youth empowerment NGO, Junior Chamber International (JCI), recently wrapped up a two day visit to the Maldives Holidays, during which time he recruited new members to the organization’s local chapter, oversaw the staging of two prominent youth awards, and met with several top government officials.

Some of these distinguished figures included the Maldivian President, the Acting Finance Minister, the Economic Minister and the Environment Minister.

The two awards ceremonies that Kentaro partook in were the Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) award and the Creative Young Entrepreneurs award. According to JCI Maldives, both awards bestow the country’s youth with a greater sense of power and an exposure to further opportunity, thereby widening their horizons.

Kentaro explained that his journey to the Maldives was part of a larger trip, during which the JCI head would be allotting 300 days from his year, to attempt visiting some of the more than 120 countries which house branches of the organization.

“As JCI President, travelling around the world is one of my responsibilities. I’ve travelled to the United States and then South America, Europe, and now I’m in the Asia Pacific. Next month I’m going to Africa, taking 300 days and going to visit about 60 nations in total,” Kentaro revealed at a media briefing.

In a separate development, the 2011 JCI Legal Counsel, Ahmed Fasyh, revealed that JCI Maldives has signed an agreement to put into motion the organization of an educational exhibition entitled ‘Youth Vision’, which will seek to present numerous educational opportunities to young Maldivians.
